||||
Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week. I have attached the crime reduction items catalogue so pop me an email if you need anything or more information.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Report of an incident where suspects have smashed the glass to a back patio door on Canberra Way between 20:05-20:15 on Sunday 12th of October. It appears the property was targeted as it was in darkness and due to the vehicle on the drive. No entry gained to the property. We are completing work to identify the vehicle and persons involved, but if you have any CCTV, please get in touch. 25000600324. Please consider light timers and window alarms as they are an affective and cheap way of reducing this type of incident. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Report of a ball bearing being fired at a stationary vehicle on East Close, causing damage at around 14:30 on the 11th of October. 25000598402 if you have any information.
A vehicle crashed into the usual spot at the Three Pots Island, off Canberra Way on the 12th of October. The driver was arrested for drink drive. This type of behaviour is disgusting and potentially putting the lives of others at risk. As we approach Christmas and New Year, we will be completing work with local businesses and would encourage anyone with information around drink or drug drivers, to get in touch.
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
Stop searches of persons and vehicles completed at locations such as Rugby Road and Watling Street.
We have a new Police officer for the beat, PC 4312 Davidson. He will be visible and active across the village. He has come across from response policing and is eager to be part of the village and make an impact. This will really support us with pro-active work such as stop checks/searches and supporting locally around what matters to you.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
We have had a rise in door-to-door sales throughout Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and would like to raise awareness to people in Leicestershire
Door-to-door sales scammers are visiting households across East Midlands. We have received several recent reports of rogue door to door salesmen who sell cleaning goods but then vastly overcharge. They are particularly targeting elderly and vulnerable people – if you have any older family members, friends or neighbours please check in with them to make them aware of the scam. If you are approached to pay by card, please do not Our advice is do not open the door to or engage with anyone trying to sell goods, or to anyone you don’t know or are not expecting. There is a cross-county operation targeting the activities of these criminals to bring them to justice and prevent future victims. “In the meantime, we’re asking you to share this message far and wide, and if you see any suspicious activity to please report it to us.” Recent incidents have been reported in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, however we may also have victims in Leicestershire, but there may have been unreported cases across the county. Doorstep fraud checklist: what to look for Fraudsters can be very believable, using urgency, emotion and good old-fashioned charm to persuade you to do something. But these might be the very clues you need that something isn’t right. Here are some signs someone is trying to defraud you in person. What to do if you suspect fraud
If you’ve seen something that doesn’t feel right, STOP! What to do if you’ve already responded to the cold caller Don’t panic! What you do next depends on whether you’ve shared information or made a payment. Take a look at our advice on what to do if you’ve been a victim of fraud.
Thank you and take care.
